NAD+

Advanced Anti-Aging Treatment

WHAT IS NAD+

NAD+ is a critical signalling molecule and redox cofactor which is involved in a wide range of biological processes that maintain our health and vitality.  NAD+ levels decline naturally as we age, and are also depleted by toxins, alcohol, tobacco, poor diet, stress, inadequate sleep, too much or too little exercise, lack of exposure to sunlight, chronic infections, social isolation/loneliness, EMFs, etc.

“NAD+ levels decline 90% between 1 year and 90 years old. Factors such as stress, lack of sleep, poor diet, alcohol and drugs, EMF exposure and lack of exercise cause further decline of NAD+ levels.”  Dr. Matt Cook, MD

In today’s toxic environment, NAD+ levels can be compared to the bank account of someone who inherited a sum of money when they were born but who can’t seem to earn as much money as they spend.  Over time, as large and small withdrawals are made, the account balance declines unless significant deposits are made.

Healthy Body & Mind

NAD plays many important roles that keep bodies and minds healthy and strong via two primary mechanisms:

As a signaling molecule: adequate NAD+ levels signal genes to slow the aging process, promote repair and respond appropriately to the environment.

As a redox molecule: NAD+ is continually being utilized to provide the energy and raw materials that propel a variety of reactions in the cells and mitochondria which allow us to derive energy (ATP) from fuels (fats, carbohydrates, proteins and oxygen), metabolize toxins, repair damaged DNA and more.

Initially discovered as a compound that reduced symptoms of schizophrenia, NAD+ has been used since the 1960s as a treatment for addiction. It dramatically reduces withdrawal symptoms and cravings for a wide range of substances while helping the body eliminate alcohol, drugs and other toxins.  These individuals and their loved ones often report they are “back” to their normal selves after about 2 weeks of intensive NAD+ treatment.

An increasing number of doctors are clearly seeing positive clinical outcomes over a wide range of conditions with NAD+ therapy administered intravenously (IV), subcutaneously (SQ) and across mucus membranes (nasal or sublingual) as part of a comprehensive approach to care.  In contrast, 80% of patients using oral NR (an NAD+ precursor) report no noticeable benefits.

NAD+ is extremely soothing to the brain and nervous system.  Studies suggest that NAD+ improves dopamine signaling, reduces brain inflammation and helps repair damaged (i.e. leaky) blood vessels.  Clinically, giving NAD+ seems to improve a wide range of psychiatric and neurological conditions, including anxiety, depression, brain inflammation, post-traumatic brain injury, cerebrovascular disease, brain fog, dementia and more.

“NAD+ IV Therapy is an emerging metabolic/nutritional therapy. It has been shown to be an important component of an integrated protocol for treating a variety of conditions, including auto-immune disease, Lyme disease, mold sensitivity and chronic fatigue.”    Dr. Matt Cook, MD

Replacing depleted NAD+ can have dramatic benefits.

THE MANY BENEFITS OF NAD+

NAD+ is necessary for optimal immune function, benefiting such conditions as chronic Lyme, coinfections, stealth infections, mold toxicity, chronic fatigue, multiple chemical sensitivity, autoimmune conditions and neoplastic tendencies.

NAD+ promotes healing of the lining and muscular layers of blood vessels, thus improving the size and tone of peripheral veins and making it potentially useful in cardiovascular, neurovascular, peripheral vascular diseases.  It’s additional action of balancing the autonomic nervous system may make it useful for POTs syndrome.

NAD+ accelerates the capacity of the cells and the liver to metabolize and excrete a wide range of drugs and environmental toxins, including endotoxins made by yeasts, molds and parasites.

NAD+ helps the cells convert glucose into energy and may improve hemoglobin-A1C levels and insulin sensitivity.

NAD’s critical role in DNA repair makes it a relevant therapy for illnesses induced or worsened by steroids and the “Floxacin” class of drugs.

Like a farmer removing weeds and adding fertilizer to prepare the soil prior to planting seeds, NAD+ prepares the body to receive the full benefit of a wide range of other therapies.

Clinically, NAD+ seems to increase efficacy and reduce negative side-effects when used prior to or in conjunction with localized injections for pain (prolozone, PRP, stem cells and placenta-derived MSC exosomes), systemic (full body) therapies (ozone autohemotherapy, exosomes, blood UVBI/photon therapy) and brain-targeted therapies (ketamine for PTSD).

NAD+ IVs take time, what if they don’t fit into my busy schedule?

In addition to NAD+ IV infusions, we also prescribe NAD+ therapies that fit into any schedule.  We recommend the following methods, which have been shown to have great clinical benefit: subcutaneous injections, nasal spray and sublingual NAD+.  Transdermal patches and topical treatments, including face cream, are also available. Your personalized plan may include more than one method of administration.

NAD+ is not a magic bullet.  A comprehensive plan including lab work, functional medicine and lifestyle medicine sets you up for long-term success.

In order to safely and responsibly prescribe NAD+, it is important that we review lab work, take a detailed health history, review medications, nutritional supplements, diet and goals of treatment.  A 360 degree understanding of your health, including your overall vitality, toxic load, nutritional status and sensitivity to treatments, allows us to customize a plan that will be both beneficial and well-tolerated.

Comprehensive and customized NAD+ support includes additional key nutrients which we prefer to prescribe via the oral and sublingual routes, vs. nutritional IVs which are expensive, short-lived, contain synthetic vitamins and may actually deplete critical cofactors which are important for long-term success.

We look forward to introducing you to the wonderful world of NAD+!!
